This is a story about a certain voice. It is the voice of the 'other' who, behind the label of 'nurse-migrant to Germany,' could not help but remain a perpetual stranger. It is a first-person voice never recorded in the official third-person history of the nation—a voice cast into the shadows, left unremembered even as the justification of 'sublime sacrifice for national development' shone ever brighter.
Following these voices as they gradually fade into oblivion, this book confronts the voids existing between them and asks us: Where do stories that are not remembered remain? Through fragments of absent images and texts, Jang Boyun delicately restores the unrecorded underside of history.
